I am from Trichy, which is located geographically on the heart of Tamilnadu and on the banks of the Cauvery. This city has ancient history on its title. When you look at the development side of the city, there is a big slag , and the reasons are not one or two. Some of the known reasons are as follows.
- The city is located on the banks of the river Cauvery, the developments near to the river is not adviced or authorised or approved to be done.
- The Souther Railways occupy nearly 25 percentage of the land of the main city. As per the railways policy, the developement within this area is prohibited.
- The Missionaries occupy nearly 15 percentage of the land of the city, and prevent social developments.
The list mentioned above are one of the examples which prohibit the city being underdeveloped. Apart from this, one has to understand that there was no leaders from the city at the political level , doing the favour for the city developments. The city being the heaven for caste related voting people, elects the people as MPs and MLAs and they do hardly any kind of development work.
Lets have a look at the projects related to the city development.
- It took around 10 years for the government to construct some of the fly-over bridges at the key traffic areas , and the delay caused the businessmen around these area to move away or beg for life.
- It has been a demand to construct the round road surrounding the city to reduce the traffic in innercity, and has no hopes for improvement irrespective of the government changes and promises.
- The bus stand lacks the parking slots and civic buildings, and the corporation is finding hard to plan for new ones. When it goes with a plan after 10 years, it is objected by the other people, thus preventing the entirety.
- We have a very good Railway junction, and Trichy is one of the profitable section of the railways, and due to the political pressures, Salem is getting the limelight of Region status, even though Trichy being the centre of the state. And even the trains starting from Trichy had been extended from other stations.
- Trichy airport is one of the first airports in the country where the initial flights landed, and it was of the same shape till LateMr.Kumaramangalam became as MP. He pushed many thing to make this airport as International Airport . Unfortunately, his demise made the airport remain in the domestic level. Now AAI is taking some steps to improve( and the improvement are based on the growth of traffic), and none of them was ever requested or pushed by any of our MP,Ministers.
- The underground sanitation is just in a doom phase for decades.
Now, lets wake up, nobody is going to help our city to grow , its going to be us. Lets join together, lets talk to the people about our city developments, meet the politicians and the administations on a periodic basis to push things further. Small dots make heavy rain. Vaazhga Thamil, Valarga Thirucirappalli.

Though, we people in Trichy have a better understandings on the potential aspects of Trichy, but wonder why the current representatives are not having the same thought and feelings like us?
Besides, since, Trichy is geographically located at the heart of Tamil Nadu state, believe strongly, that both local and foreign investors, would dearly love to put their investments in such a strategic location, together with an highly abundant educated workforce, which in return, would enhance this part of the economy, through direct&indirect employments, various basic local business activities, increased purchase power, thus, improved living standard etc.
Nevertheless, though, some current infrastructure support are ongoing, feel the support and enthusiasm by the Trichy representatives are still lacking, when compared to other cities, particularly, Salem.
Therefore, wish and hope, Trichy will have more and more Rengarajan Kumaramangalam, or late Chief Mininster MGR, to bring up the ambience and identity of Trichy into the International World map, as well as, even getting to the extend of making Trichy as the capital of Tamil Nadu state, whilst, Chennai being the Business/Financial Centre.
MAY GOD BLESS TRICHY. MAY DREAMS COME TRUE TRICHY.
