Trichy has been destined to curse itself by its own people. The public, the politicians, the administrative officers… who are responsible to make it grow, are sleeping like kumbakarna, thus, the infrastructure development is sleeping the same way.
Trichy is the city, which, the late chief minister MGR dreamt of converting it to be the State Capital. Trichy is the city , which, Late Mr.Rangarajan Kumaramangalam dreamt of converting as a hub of south india. Unfortunately, trichy’s fate killed their life, before they started converting the vision into the reality.
The parliament members from Trichy, have never worried about city’s development. Trichy public prolongly voted for Congress member to become as MP, they were simply upgraded their personal proprerties. The current MP, doesn’t know his party itself as of now, and how his voice will be listened? This is another fate that trichy is bound to.
Trichy, virtually , one of the important place it Tamilnadu(South India Even), which housed RockFort,Srirangam and the vast number of educational institute. BARD is one of the university whose techies are all around the world topping their position and proving their skills.
When it comes to the development, trichy is left unnoticed, because there is nobody to raise the voice. Madurai gains the projects due to the heavy political pressure. Coimbatore develops due to its weather and the business. Trichy neither has politicians nor has the attracting weather.
Lately, due to the the passenger growth, the sleeping airport is getting modernised, the train station got upgraded. As there is no other option for NHAI, it converts all the roads into 4 lanes(because trichy is in the center place). And ELCOT is planning for an IT Park. TN govt is planning for a SEZ nearby(perambalur). And we should not forget that these development are in the starting stage, and God only knows when they will be fully functional.
The development of abovesaid, will not change the city in a night, the public mentality, approach should change. We cannot create a city of international standards without a proper public co-operation. We could find the public’s interest, if we get into the bus stand(always urine smell), throwing the tea cups in the train tracks, parking wherever the vehicle fits in …
We desparately need a proper corporation with excellant members who dedicate to the city development. Each councellor should try to make his ward as clean.

It is well said. Not that Trichy people averse to developement but few influential business persons and politicians are blocking Trichy’s development. It is time common public raise their voice for removal of obstruction of these persons.

Hi pjohnson ,
Nice article but let us hope trichy gets developed into a nice city in few years.

absolutely right.. for the more than 20 years there is no development work in trichy. even small towns like thanjavur, hosur, thirupur got new bus stands bigger than trichy. trichy is going down only. not going up. maybe after 5 year trichy will go to 10 th place in tamilnadu. because tirupur, salem, tirunelveli cities are growing very fast than trichy. we can’t do any thing for these. all are in politician hand.

I am Rajesh Muralidharen from Thrissur. I brought up in Tirchy. Its a nice place ever I have visited in Tamil Nadu. I believe soon Trichy will emerges into a developed place. IT Park gonna be a bon voyage since for many years, but its going to happen and the worst thing is like will affect the culture of Trichy into an Chennain or Bangalorean way to moving. With some good raises bad as well…
